Mark Driscoll is the founder and preaching pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, Washington, one of America's fastest-growing churches in one of the nation's least-churched cities. He and his wife, Grace, started Mars Hill in 1996 as a Bible study in their living room; since then it has grown to over six thousand people. He is the co-founder and president of the Acts 29 Church Planting Network and founder of theResurgence.com. He's also written a number of books, including The Radical Reformission, Vintage Jesus, Death By Love, and Vintage Church.
Francis is the pastor of Cornerstone Church in Simi Valley, where he has been serving for the past 15 years. He is also the Founder of Eternity Bible College and serves on the board of directors for Children's Hunger Fund and World Impact.
Francis spends much of his time speaking to high school and college students and is the author of Crazy Love and Forgotten God. His commitment is to teach directly from the words of Scripture. It is his passion to see the next generation of American Christians display a much deeper love for Jesus and their neighbors.
Francis is married to Lisa and they have three daughters and one son.
Peter Jones is Director of truthXchange, and Adjunct Professor of New Testament, as well as Scholar in Residence, at Westminster Seminary California.
He has written The Gnostic Empire Strikes Back (1992), Spirit Wars (1997), Gospel Truth/Pagan Lies (1999), Capturing the Pagan Mind (2003), Cracking DaVinci's Code (2004, co-author, James Garlow), Stolen Identity (2006) and The God of Sex (2006).
Peter Jones is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America, and is married to Rebecca (Clowney) Jones. They have seven children and twelve grandchildren. For recreation, Dr. Jones enjoys playing jazz piano and golf. Rebecca is a writer and editor, serves on the board of the Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, and does some speaking for women's groups in the PCA and other churches.
Kevin DeYoung is the Senior Pastor at University Reformed Church in East Lansing, MI, across the street from Michigan State University. A graduate of Hope College (Holland, Michigan) and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Kevin is the author of four books: Freedom and Boundaries: A Pastoral Primer on the Role of Women in the Church; Just Do Something: A Liberating Approach to Finding God's Will, and two books he co-authored with Ted Kluck, Why We're Not Emergent By Two Guys Who Should Be and Why We Love the Church: In Praise of Institutions and Organized Religion. Kevin also serves on the executive team for RCA Integrity, a renewal group within the Reformed Church in America. Kevin and his wife Trisha have three children.
Julius J. Kim, Ph.D., is the Dean of Students and Associate Professor of Practical Theology at Westminster Seminary California; he is also an Associate Pastor of New Life Presbyterian Church in Escondido. In addition, Julius continues to serve the broader Christian community as a preacher, speaker, and ministry consultant—especially for the Korean-American church. Prior to taking his current position at Westminster Seminary California, he taught undergrad communications at Trinity International University in Illinois and church history at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and was a Visiting Scholar at Cambridge University and Torch Trinity Graduate School of Theology (Seoul, South Korea). Julius and his wife Ji Hee reside in Escondido with their two daughters.
Author and activist Linda Harvey has been an astute observer of American culture for over a decade. A former advertising executive, she started the Christian group Mission America and its popular website in 1995, and is considered an authority on teen paganism, sexuality issues, and feminist spirituality. She is a frequent conference speaker and guest on talk radio. Her regular columns appear on popular Internet sites such as World Net Daily, she has a talk show on the Salem Communications station in Ohio, and she is the author of Not My Child: Contemporary Paganism and the New Spirituality (2008). In addition, Mrs. Harvey is a wife and the mother of two children, and lives with her family in Ohio.
Pam holds an MFA and is currently researching, writing and speaking on the influence in the church of postmodern culture and the rise of neo-pagan spirituality. She focuses on how Contemplative Prayer and the Emergent Movement lead to the New Spirituality. Dr. Peter Jones' Spirit Wars helped Pam see the invasion of Gnostic spirituality. Dr Jones has encouraged Pam's research and for the last few years has invited her to speak at the annual truthXchange think tank. Pam serves on the truthXchange Steering Committee.
Joel Pelsue is the Founder and President of Arts and Entertainment Ministries (AEM) in Los Angeles, CA. AEM is dedicated to equipping artists on the front lines of the mainstream culture, and educating the church about the biblical call to engage the culture. Joel has a B.A in Philosophy from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA., and his M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary. He's been ordained in the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America) for over 10 years, and has been a pastor in New York and in Los Angeles. He and his wife Michelle are both artists, and have been married and ministering to artists for over 18 years. Joel has taught, lectured or preached all over the country for colleges, arts ministries, churches and seminaries As a musician, Joel started playing in orchestra pits when he was 14, and plays sax, flute, clarinet, and oboe. His first CD, "Windsome Thirst" played on radio stations across the country and is currently in its second printing. Joel lives in Los Angeles,with his wife Michelle, and their two children, Reid & Sophia.
Jeffery J. Ventrella, J.D., is the Senior Vice President of the Alliance Defense Fund. He regularly lectures in churches, campuses, and conferences throughout the United States and has lectured in Europe, South Africa, and Hong Kong.
Mr. Ventrella is a contributing author to several books, including: The Idaho Appellate Handbook (3rd Ed.); The Standard Bearer (2001); Thine is the Kingdom (2003) and Backbone of the Bible (2004). In 2006, he served as an expert commentator for a History Channel program exploring the role of the Ten Commandments in culture and law. His book, The Cathedral Builder: Pursuing Cultural Beauty (2007) is part of ADF's Blackstone Core Curriculum Project, which he also edits.
Mr. Ventrella has taught Ethics and Apologetics at the graduate seminary level, and he currently serves as a Research Fellow for the Department of Philosophy and Constitutional Law for the University of the Free State, South Africa. He is married to Heather and has five children.
Many Christians who long to fulfill Christ's call to be "salt and light in the world" find themselves confused: intimidated by a culture that no longer operates with Biblical morality as its foundation, faced with increased and overt hostility toward Christianity, and an Emergent church movement that erroneously seeks to make itself relevant to the culture by altering the truth of the gospel. truthXchange aims to initiate this process is the new conference, Exchange: The Truth & The Lie a conference for 3500 participants scheduled to take place June 17 and 18, 2010 at the Rock Church in San Diego, Ca. Expanding the reach of the conference by tens of thousands, truthXchange is partnering with The Resurgence of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, WA, one of the most-visited Christian ministries online today. Using the extensive reach of The Resurgence's websites and mailing lists, all content from the conference will also be provided online for free.
Using the perspectives of "Oneism" (all is one, all is equal, and all is divine) and "Twoism" (Creation is separate from the Creator, God is divine and rules over creation, and Christ is King over all), truthXchange will teach participants of this conference to analyze and speak effectively to the modern church and culture about issues such as worship, spiritualism, sexuality, parenting, public education, popular media, social justice, and the law while highlighting the differences between the Gospel and the Lie. Presenting these topics will be leaders in the Christian church and experts in their various fields such as Dr. Peter Jones, Mark Driscoll, Francis Chan, Kevin DeYoung, Jeff Ventrella, Joel Pelsue, Pamela Frost, and Linda Harvey. In addition to plenary sessions, participants will be invited to participate in interactive Q&A sessions with various panels of the conference speakers throughout the course of the event, followed up with times of corporate prayer and worship.
truthXchange and The Resurgence will also be facilitating in-depth interviews with all speakers at the conference, allowing Christians all over the world to look more deeply into issues about which they have personal interest.
